Description:
First Sound, Last Sound is a durational performance at the center of Pulse of the Planet, an exhibition by Paris/Sydney-based artist Mel O’Callaghan. Featuring two large-scale tuning forks installed on a resonant chamber, the performance invited performers and audience members alike to connect to the Earth’s heartbeat through vibration, sound, and somatic rhythms.
Personal Note from Ebony R. Gooden:
“I was anxious about performing in this exhibition because how in the world can I hear tuning forks as someone who is Deaf? But little did I know that it vibrated so deeply that I wept.”
